Calpe is preparing another year for the great cycling festival next Sunday, August 25th, with the arrival of the Vuelta a España.
On this occasion, the end of the second stage of the Spanish Tour, 199.6 kilometres between Benidorm and Calpe, will take place.
Cyclists reach Calpe via the Acceso Norte and follow Avenida Generalitat Valenciana, Ejércitos Españoles and Juan Carlos I towards Poble Nou de Benitatxell.
From there they return to Calpe, past the Avenida Juan Carlos I to Las Salinas, where the finish line is located.
Since yesterday and until the end of August, 24 young people from the NGO De Amicitia have been taking part in a campaign to clean up the beaches and bays of Calpe.
The volunteers are active on the following days: today, Tuesday, from 7:30 to 11:30 in the Cala de LesUrques; tomorrow, Wednesday, in the Cala del Borumbot, from 7:30 to 9:00, and from 9:30 to 11:30 in Cala La Manzanera. On Thursday the 15th, from 7:30 to 9:00, in Cala del Racó and from 9:30 to 10:30 on the Paseo Princesa de Asturias.
“Calpe, por los buenos tratos" (Calpe, for a good relationship) is the title of a guide published by Calpe City Council, aimed primarily at young people to learn how to build healthy relationships and prevent violence against women.
The document deals with the myths of so-called romantic love and the close relationship it can have with gender-specific violence in relationships. Relationship alternatives are described in order to build healthy and thus egalitarian relationships.
The "Joanot Martorell" municipal library of Calpe had 18,000 readers in the first six months of the year.
Calpe has received a grant of 33,906 Euros from Turisme de la Generalitat Valenciana to adapt its network of trails to mountain biking.
This initiative is part of the measures to promote sports tourism and seasonal tourism in Calpe.
The City Council of Calpe (PP and Ciudadanos) decided in today's plenary session to reduce the IBI (property tax) by 5% for 2020. The measure, which affects all IBI revenues, was not supported by the opposition groups (PSOV-PSOE, Compromís and Defendamos Calpe), which call for a cadastral audit and examine other factors to favour the lowest incomes.
Other economic initiatives decided today are the modification of the vehicle tax to exempt people with disabilities and the free issue of registration forms for city residents.
