At the next plenary session, which will take place on 13 October, Calp Town Council will adopt a budgetary amendment to grant a grant of 1,000 euros to local AMPA (parents' associations) for educational and telematic material.

This grant will be in addition to the 500 euros subsidy which the parents' associations receive each school year for expenditure during the school year (activities, events, materials, etc.).

The Calp City Council has just awarded the paving and lighting works for the D7 road, which begins on Avenida Diputación and ends on a street in the Benicolada district. The opening of this road is crucial to the start of work on the pedestrian bridge over the N332, as it will provide an exit for the area's neighbours, whose current access will disappear with the construction of the pedestrian bridge.

The Calp Town Council is continuing the installation of letter boxes in the municipality's "urbanizaciones" (housing estates) to ensure the delivery of postal items, after the Post Office announced a few years ago that it was interrupting the door-to-door delivery service in the housing estates which do not have concentrated letter boxes or which are not properly organised in accordance with the provisions of the Law on the liberalisation of the universal postal service and postal services.

This morning was the last guided visit to the Roman site "Baños de la Reina" (Queen's Baths), organised by the City Council for Culture throughout the summer. The visits were free of charge and took place in groups of 20 people, wearing masks and keeping a safe distance. They were led by the archaeological director of the site, Alicia Luján, who explained the history and importance of this enclave to the participants every Tuesday of the last few months. As every year, the participants' interest was focused on these two main elements of the site: the mosaics and the waterwheel.

Yesterday, work began on the redesign of the pavements in Corbeta Street. This involves repairing the sections of the pavement that have been damaged by the roots of the trees.

From tomorrow, 18 September, the period for applying for two of the aid measures provided for in the Plan Resiste, which are intended to reduce the losses of trade and businesses caused by the COVID-19 crisis, will begin. These are the subsidy for the waste charge and the aid for entrepreneurs and companies in general that have been operating for less than three years.

On the one hand, local businesses can apply for a grant of 30 percent of the amount of the waste charge, which will be a maximum of €2,000 in the first half of 2020.

During these days, the citizens of Calp take part in the various leisure and educational activities in the framework of "El Reto del Reciclaje" (The Recycling Challenge), an initiative which aims to promote their commitment to recycling in order to raise awareness of its importance in protecting the environment and the planet. In this way, the inhabitants of Calp yesterday actively participated in the educational activities proposed in a space reserved at the town's weekly market.

The plenary session of Calp Town Council, held on Monday, dealt with the proposal by the PP and Ciudadanos political groups to urge the regional government to carry out the Covid19 tests for the educational community. Specifically, the PP spokesperson, Paco Avargues, said that "these are repeated tests for the staff of the education centres".
